Well, it's official! As confirmed by Austin 360 and KLRU's ACL Blog, Pearl Jam will tape an episode of the iconic Austin City Limits TV show on October 3rd, the night before they headline this year's ACL Festival at Zilker Park. To say this taping will be a tough ticket would be an understatement. Pearl Jam is known for playing in front of tens of thousands of people at every festival imaginable and this "ACL Taping" performance will be the most intimate experience anyone will ever experience from the band in the foreseeable future, with capacity set around 320. Yes we said 320 people!
“I sure wish the new studio was ready for Pearl Jam,” Lickona said, referring to the 2,750-capacity venue being built on West Second Street across from City Hall. “We’d still have to turn away people, but not quite as many.” Construction of the $40 million Austin City Limits Theater is expected to be completed in October 2010. Last year, we were lucky enough to attend the My Morning Jacket and Duffy tapings and we were blown away by the fantastic sound and intimate setting. Hopefully we'll be at some of the great tapings they have this year!
