Decided to leave the cozy confines of the "indie" rock world and watch the MTV "VMA's", well I saved it on my DVR and watched it later but you get the point. I have to admit, it was a pretty good one. Don't get me wrong there was a lot to complain about but it wasn't all bad. So I thought what the hell why not give a review of the show. Better yet why not get all TV Guide and do it in Cheers and Jeers form, so here it is love it or hate it....
Cheers: To having The Raconteurs as the house band for the night. It was cool to have them play 8 or so little sets through out the show.
Jeers: Jack Black. What's going on, he used to be so damn funny? Just seemed a little off.
Cheers: Steve-O insulting Fall Out Boy when they won the Peoples Choice Award and Wee Man hitting the lead singer in the crotch.
Jeers: To people for making Fall Out Boy their choice, shame...
Cheers: Lou Reed performing with The Raconteurs and just being around.
Jeers: Lou Reed presenting the Best Rock Award to... AFI?
Cheers: Justin Timberlake kicking ass, damn the first two songs off the new album are the shit. And no I am not being sarcastic.
Jeers: Christina Aguilera, who listens to this? What happened?
Cheers: To good guilty pleasure songs ( Rihanna - S.O.S, JT - SexyBack, Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous, Shakira - Hips Don't Lie, Madonna - Hung Up)
Jeers: To Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco for dressing like a bunch of damn fools. I swear to you kids out there, if you start dressing like this. Great now I sound old...
And Cheers: To the Hype Williams Lifetime Award, the montage took me back to the old high school days.
Strangest Moment -Axl Rose introducing The Killers? And The Killers weird facial hair...
Highlight of the night: Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and The Raconteurs performing the ZZ Top classic " Cheap Sunglasses", love that song, reminds me of hanging out with my Dad when I was a kid. Hi Dad.
