Four Different Cities Plan Elliott Smith Tribute Concerts

This upcoming August 6th would have marked the 44th birthday of the incredibly talented Elliott Smith. His many friends and family members are commemorating the occasion by organizing four concerts set up in different cities around the country to raise money for charity. The events, entitled "No Name #1: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Elliott Smith", will take place in Portland, Los Angeles, Austin, and New York City.
 
These shows promise to be an intimate experience for all involved. They will include contributions from over a total of 100 musicians and tributes from director Gus Van Sant, producer Jon Brion, members of Grandaddy, Chris Thile (Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek), Rhett Miller, and Mary Lou Lord, to name a few.
 
Portland's Doug Fir Lounge will get the first show on Sunday, August 4, with the proceeds to benefit Outside In, an organization devoted to helping the young homeless community and others in need. Purchase tickets here, starting on Monday, June 17th.
 
On Wednesday, August 6th, the Los Angeles concert will take place at Largo, with the donations going to help Free Arts for Abused Children. Purchase tickets here, starting on Monday, June 17th.
 
The Austin show will take place on Friday, August 9th at the Scottish Rite Theater with KUTX's Jody Denberg, along with members of Grandaddy, Lil' Cap'n Travis, and David Garza. The SIMS Foundation, which provides mental health services for Austin musicians, will be the beneficiary of the evening's proceeds. Purchase ($25) tickets here, starting on Monday, June 17th at 10am.
 
The last show will take place on Saturday, August 10th at New York's Bowery Ballroom and will raise money for New Alternatives for LBGT Homeless YouthPurchase tickets here, starting on Monday, June 17th.
