The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Austin City Limits 2012

The announcement of the 2012 Austin City Limits music festival is hardly a secret and I won't bore you with another post just announcing all the bands on the bill. Instead we thought we would highlight The Good, The Bad and The Ugly on this year line up. You can view the full line up, create a schedule and keep up to date with all of the latest news on ACL's Official Website.

The Good: If you read this site frequently I think you can figure out which artists we are glad to see on the bill. You can expect great performances from Iggy and The Stooges, Jack White, Metric, Big K.R.I.T, Black Lips, Oberhofer and Caveman. The line up was also announced divided by day and although set times are not confirmed the way that the bands are divided up so far looks like there won't be as many conflicts as we have seen in the past.

And the weather... Now that the festival is back in October hopefully we can get at least a small break from the intense heat.

The Bad: This is a live music town and obviously an lot of acts tour through here frequently but this basically a "greatest hits" package of every band that C3 has brought to town over the last few months. Now I understand that the type of people that go out to ALL of these shows is a select few but for those of us that just saw M83 on Friday night or were at The Black Keys show last month this doesn't offer much in the terms of freshness.

The Ugly: Seeing artists like Bassnectar, AVICII and Childish Gambino so high on the bill. I have to go against popular opinion and say that Childish Gambino is terrible and yes, I understand that people like dubstep but I am not going to say that it makes me happy that I have to walk around those people on my way to see Jack White.

And one last thing. I hate that they let people bring in those damn folding chairs. I really do.
See you in October...
