Ultra8201 is turning six years old and it's time to celebrate. In honor of the event we have put together a stellar line up featuring some of Austin most exciting bands and paired that with a nightlife extraordinaire. The evening will feature performances by TV Torso, Politics and Young Girls and ULOVEI will be taking photos throughout the evening before finishing the night with one of his signature dance parties.
TV Torso: Veterans of the Austin music scene featuring former members of one of my favorite bands Sound Team. Matt Oliver and company most recently played at last years Fun Fun Fun Fest. Over the years the band has made a name for itself in Austin and garnered nation wide attention with their debut EP Status Quo Vadis which Oliver produced with Stuart Sikes (the White Stripes, Loretta Lynn) at the bands studio in Austin.
Politics: The first band to release music via Ultra8201. Politics debut EP Cities was released last September as a free download and has been picked up by over 1,500 people so far. They will enter the studio in the next few weeks with Matt Oliver (above) to record the first couple of tracks of what will be their debut album. They recently finished up a round of successful Free Week performances including a headlining slot as part of the Austin Vida "Indie Latino" showcase. http://politicsatx.bandcamp.com/
Young Girls: Recent Houston transplants and an extremely hard band to Google, Young Girls made a name for themselves very quickly in Houston that found them opening for bands like The Drums and Magic Kids during their stops in Texas. Their transition to the Austin scene has been smooth with high profile slots at shows around town including the NYE showcase at Cheer Up Charlies with Ringo Deathstarr.
ULOVEI: If you have spent anytime in the last few years going out there is a good chance you have had your photo taken by ULOVEI. He also hosts the extremely popular Fuck Me Fuck Me Fridays weekly, DIRTY parties and the upcoming weekly at the new Beauty Ballroom.
