Do512 , Two Groove and Yetti Rock are proud to present Rob Dickinson, frontman of the influential ’90s rock band the Catherine Wheel, at Mixx on September 25th. As singer/guitarist for the British rock band the Catherine Wheel, Rob Dickinson led the four piece to critical success fueled by their classic hit song Black Metallic. During their decade-long run, Catherine Wheel quietly unleashed six brilliant albums, recorded a session for the great John Peel, headlined for a new band called Radiohead, and did their last show opening up for Smashing Pumpkins in 2000. Years later, members of Death Cab for Cutie and Interpol would tell Dickinson that without the Catherine Wheel, their bands wouldn’t exist.
Dickinson, who performed at the 2006 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, comes back to Austin for what will only be his second appearance in 11 years. It will take place at one of Austin’s newest music venues, Mixx. Located at 612 E. 6th St., Mixx is situated right down the sidewalk from Emo’s, a venue that features an outdoor patio and 3 bars. Their goal is to be a destination for music of all genres to establish roots in town and for national acts to be able to showcase their talent in a unique setting.
