It's sure been an extremely busy year for Ume. At the beginning of the year, the band took part in Emo's annual "FREE WEEK". Then a few weeks later, they released a new EP entitled Sunshower to rave reviews (Austin Chronicle, Austin Sound, Popmatters, and CMJ) and played a fantastic set at The Mohawk to celebrate the new record. Then the following month in February, the trio took part in first series of Dell Lounge's "Dead Venues Live" performing "The Conductor" on the steps of the now extinct Club Foot.
During SXSW, Ume seemed to be the talk of Austin and deserveadly so! Among the numerous performances they gave throughout the week, a session recorded for WOXY was sure to be the most exciting for them. A few months later in May, we were fortunate to have them headline our first concert with True Widow and The White White Lights at La Zona Rosa. During June, the band headed out on a month long tour, recording another WOXY session and performing at Toronto's NXNE Festival.
These days don't expect the band to rest. They have two performances this weekend, including a show at Tripp's Custom T-Shirts (6-9pm) tomorrow afternoon and an appearance at The Austin Fashion Awards this Sunday. Also catch them next month, as they'll be performing at Houston's Free Press Summer Fest.
This September Ume will be taking it's greatest leap yet. The band will be touring with the Meat Puppets and Dead Confederate. The dates are down below.
