SXSW Spotlight: The Golden Filter

We've recently become enamored with The Golden Filter.  Their disco, new-wave sound is reminiscent of Blondie and more recently, Glass Candy.  We're addicted to all of their songs on their Myspace, but especially, "Solid Gold", which you can listen to/download down below. They've also been getting into the whole remix thing, reworking tracks for Cut Copy, Peter Bjorn & John, and even a supposed Little Boots song that we're definitely excited to listen to.

The Golden Filter surround themselves in a shroud of mystery. The group from New York just played their first two shows (1/28 @ The Talking Head in Baltimore, 1/29 @ Le Poisson Rouge in New York) a few weeks back after months of curiosity building about the elusive band. We know they love hiding their faces in pictures (notice the photos above) and videos (see down below). We also know they'll be partaking in this year's SXSW and we guarantee they'll be taking Austin by storm! According to their Myspace, they are playing six shows, including the AMAZING, Totally FREE Gorilla vs Booze III Day Party on Thursday, March 19th. They also have a tour starting near the end of March with The Presets.

They just released released the 7" vinyl for Solid Gold via Dummy Mag's record label.  If you'd like to download "Solid Gold" and it's four remixes in mp3 form for FREE, go here.

The Golden Filter have a twitter as well if you'd like to follow them.

Call me crazy but could the singer of The Golden Filter be Penelope Trappes of Lismore? Just saying...
