Shearwater To Play Special Show At The Parish
Shearwater will premiere their new album, Rook in a special concert at The Parish on May 29 (next Thursday, buy tickets here). They will be joined by a string quartet, woodwinds, trumpets, and a harpist with projections by Kahn & Selesnick, the team behind Rook's cover art. They are also said to be playing a separate set of older songs.
We have a pair of tickets to give away. All you have to do is email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with Shearwater tickets in the subject line. The deadline is May 27 and we'll draw a winner at random. Good luck! Also check out our friends over at Austin Sound Check and Covert Curiosity because they have some tickets to give away as well.
Jonathan Meiburg and Will Sheff began Shearwater in 1999 as a collaborative side project while still making music for Okkervil River. Shearwater released their debut, The Dissolving Room in 2001. Meiburg and Sheff worked on two more albums together as Shearwater before Sheff's departure from the band (he was too busy with Okkervil River). Shearwater released Palo Santo in 2006, which was subsequently re-released in 2007 after signing with Matador. The re-released San Paolo was expanded to include a second disc of demos and miscellaneous songs.
