Last Night : The Mars Volta @ Austin Music Hall

The Mars Volta

This was the best photo I could get from the show last night. Security was going after people with cameras stronger than they were going after people that had drugs. That and the fact that I didn't dare get any closer for fear of getting crushed, guess I'm getting old or it could have been the annoying crowd...

The energy level was high and at one point Cedric threw two full cymbal stands into the crowd and sent everyone into a frenzy. Hopefully no one was hurt although I would assume they were. The new drummer Thomas Pridgen is amazing and I have to argue with my fellow blogger Cause=Time who said he wasn't that good. The entire band plays around him in a very nurturing/inspired way and he adds a certain style to the show that I didn't think they could get back after losing Jon Theodore. The band played for nearly 3 hours! and kept the set even with material from all four albums.

And I have to get this off my chest. I hate the Austin Music Hall. Terrible venue. Ahh better...

Here is some video from last night...
