So today, I bought my ticket online for the U2 3-D Concert at the IMAX. I get down to the theater and walk up to the will call. I ask for my ticket to U2 and they give me a weird look. They were playing the Rolling Stones' movie, Shine A Light, and seems they only have one theater. So they ask me if I want to see the Stones for free, no less. Of course I did. I had a great time, definetely recommend it.
Shine A Light (trailer down below) was directed by Academy Award winning filmaker Martin Scorsese. Filmed October 29 and November 1 at the famed Beacon Theater in New York City in 2006, during the Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour. The film takes its title from the song of the same name, featured on the band's 1972 album Exile on Main St.
The concert footage is intercut with glimpses of the preparations for the shows and with historical news clips and archival interviews with band members. The shows were noted for their star-studded crowds, including former President Bill Clinton. The film also shows Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera performing with the band. I thought the Buddy Guy performance was awesome.
I guess I was at a screening but the movie officially opens this Friday (4/4). It's showing at the only IMAX theater in Austin, which is located at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.

- Jumpin' Jack Flash
- She Was Hot
