SXSW Recap / NPR Showcase 3.13.08
NPR Showcase at The Parish
By far one of the most anticipated showcases of the week the NPR show had a line that went down the block. It started off with the Shout Out Louds, whom I have to admit I had not heard before. They were fantastic I have to say.
Jens Lekman
Then we were treated to great sets by the amazing Jens Lekman (who was actually a very funny guy) and AA Bondy (who was a pleasant surprise!).
Yeasayer
Then came Yeasayer who played an absolutely fantastic set.
Vampire Weekend
And of course the afternoon closed with Vampire Weekend performing their very 1st SXSW performance ever. Easily the most hyped band on the planet right now I have to say it was a privelege to be in the room. I don't mention them much here because I don't really understand the hype. What I do understand now is that they are a very talented and entertaining band who have a very bright future. Lets hope the inevitable backlash doesn't sour that.
