Austin City Limits Preview - Friday

acldayuno
So it's that time of year again and we are going to do things a bit different this go around. I usually just post my entire weekend schedule at once. Thought I would change it up a bit and divide each day up with mp3's, times and info. And given this years horrible schedule conflicts give you my take on the showdowns. So here goes Friday, check back tomorrow for Saturday and so on....

3:30 - 4:30 Blonde Redhead vs Peter Bjorn and John
Blonde Redhead - 23
Peter Bjorn and John - Young Folks

Blonde Redhead are coming of a strong new album 23 and have an amazing live show. The show doesn't cross over as well in the light of day though. Meanwhile PB&J are a perfect fit for the set time and the tracks are still catchy as hell. Edge: Peter, Bjorn and John

5:30 - 6:30 LCD Soundsystem vs M.I.A
M.I.A. ”XR2″
LCD Soundsystem - North American Scum

The fact that I caught LCD at Coachella makes this an easy decision. But still not convinced? M.I.A's new album Kala is one of the best of the year and her performances in the U.S have been slim thanks to visa problems. Plus LCD is doing a DJ set later that night. Edge: M.I.A

6:30 - 7:30 Queens of the Stone Age vs Spoon
Queens Of The Stone Age - "Feel Good Hit Of The Summer"
Spoon, "The Underdog"

Tough one, Spoon just released their best album to date. But part of me just wants to rock? I made this and easy choice by snagging tix to the Spoon show on Thursday. but I would probably still stick with Queens. Edge: Queens of the Stone Age

8:15 - 9:00 The Killers
The Killers ”Mr. Brightside”

I am going to see the guys for about 45 min. It's going to cut into the Bjork performance by a few minutes but I am curious to see the band in such a large setting. Last time I saw them there was maybe 100 or so people there.

9:00 - 10:00
Björk | “Hyperballad”

One of the most talented female performers I have ever seen. Even if you are not a fan I would still suggest you catch this performance. It is truly a sight to see. And believe it or not she performs pretty much every song you would want to see.
