Brown Sabbath is the alter ego of Austin-based psych-funk collective Brownout who delve deep into reinterpreting the catalog of metal godfathers, Black Sabbath. The full-length album, Brownout Presents Brown Sabbath, is available now. This summer, Brown Sabbath is hitting the festival circuit, including a stop at Tennessee's Bonnaroo.
"I’ve been hearing about this band BROWN SABBATH for a while now,” said Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne in an e-mail forwarded by a band publicist. “I was shown a video of them performing ‘The Wizard,’ and it was a lot of fun hearing it with a horn section. It was great!”
The group brings this amazing show to ACL Live tomorrow night with special guests Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory and Kyle Shutt of the Sword. One of my new favorite locals Think No Think will be opening the show.
Foo Fighters will return to Austin this Friday to tape an episode of Austin City Limits to promote their latest album Sonic Highways. In addition to the taping there will be a special screening of the Austin episode of Dave Grohl's documentary series of the same name. The band wanted to do something different for their latest release so they set out to record and document the history behind several cities known for their rich musical history. In addition to Austin the band visited Chicago, Nashville, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Seattle. The Austin episode premieres on Friday on HBO.
