The Music Slut Hearts Moz, Plan To Release Cover Album

One of our favorite and most informative blogs out there, The Music Slut have a huge announcement today. In addition to being huge fans of Morrissey, they plan to release a special cover album in honor of the former frontman of The Smiths' birthday.

Here's what Matt of The Music Slut had to say about this special undertaking:

As Mozzer’s 50th birthday approaches (May 22nd), I wanted to celebrate in some sort of special manner. After much deliberation, I decided that a covers project would be the perfect way for The Music Slut to mark the occasion. Over the course of the last few months, I’ve asked a bevy of my favorite artists to contribute tracks to TMS Hearts Moz. Highlighting a selection of their choice, the result is a 19 song compilation that includes renditions of Smiths favorites, Morrissey rarities and nearly everything in between. I’m so proud to present this to you, our dear readers, and I’m forever thankful to each of the acts that took time out of their busy schedules to submit their own interpretations of some of my most cherished tunes.

Starting today, and concluding on May 28th, one cover will be profiled & available for free download every weekday at 4PM EST.

The full list of artists included on TMS Hearts Moz (in alphabetical order) is as follows: A Brief Smile, Bridges & Powerlines, Chris Garneau, Deleted Scenes, Exit Clov, Free Blood, The Glass, Laura Palmer, Max Vernon, Microfilm, Mixel Pixel, My Burgundy Waltz, Pattern Is Movement, The Physics Of Meaning, Sharon Van Etten, Soren Anders, Spanish Prisoners, Teddy Blanks & Unicycle Loves You.

If that wasn't enough, they also have a special party going down on Friday, May 22nd at New York's Studio (at Webster Hall) on the evening of Morrissey's 50th birthday. More info can be found here.

Last Night: Morrissey at Bass Concert Hall

Morrissey by you.Morrissey by you.Morrissey by you.Morrissey by you.
Things were a bit shaky and blurry. Guess that's the price when you go stealth in order to get some pictures of Moz. They were very strict on photos. Oh the things we do to share with you guys...

The set started with Morrissey entering in a tux and hitting hard with This Charming Man, Black Cloud, How Soon is Now? and Irish Blood, English Heart.
A fantastic set and energetic throughout. Moz took time to let the crowd spoil him with gifts and even ask questions (none of which he really answered).
Only lasted about hour and a half and we were sadly only treated to a one song encore which were able to capture on video. Enjoy.
